Business Technology and Electronic Waste
Recycle San Diego has partnered with the local Business Technology industry to recognize the importance of proper disposal of unwanted electronic equipment and devices. This equipment may contain heavy metals and other materials that can become hazardous to human health and the environment, including:
Lead: Certain computer monitors and televisions contain a cathode ray tube (CRT). These contain leaded glass and are the largest source of lead, a poisonous metal, in municipal waste.
Mercury: Some electronic equipment contains recoverable quantities of mercury, another poisonous metal.
Cadmium: Rechargeable nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries are the largest source of cadmium in municipal waste.
Recycle San Diego can provide you with a CERTIFICATE OF RECYCLING and/or a CERTIFICATE OF DESTRUCTION, which certifies that the materials we received were handled in strict compliance with State and Federal regulations. The Certificates release our clients from all liability and puts the burden of safe electronic recycling on us. This documented information is important for your records and for contesting any claims.
